When he decided to visit Mallorca, he expected sun, beach and a relaxing time. What he didn't expect were a series of comical and sometimes confusing experiences that would shape his view of this beautiful island.
First of all, the sun. In his home country, the sun is a rare guest, so he assumed he could just go out and sunbathe. Wrong! After spending more time in the sunshine than a pan-fried paella on the first day, he looked like a lobster in a holiday mood. He quickly learned to appreciate the value of sunscreen and shade.
Then the beach. Did he know that there are beaches in Mallorca where clothing is optional? He didn't! Imagine his astonishment when he sat down with his beach towel and a good book and found that he was the only one still wearing anything. It was an eye-opener in the truest sense of the word!
The food was another source of surprise. He was ready for tapas and sangria, but no one had prepared him for ensaimadas – those delicious, snail-shaped pastries. He ate so many that he feared he would be turned into a snail himself.
But the funniest thing about Mallorca were the village festivals. In each village there seemed to be a different reason to celebrate. At a party, he stumbled into a tomato fight. He still didn't know if it was an official part of the festival or if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He quickly learned that in Mallorca you should just go with the flow and make the best of the situation.
However, between the sunburn disasters, the nude beaches and unexpected tomato fights, he found something very special. The warmth of the people, the breathtaking nature and the feeling that everything is possible on this island. Mallorca had won his heart – even if it was a bit confusing at times!
